12 reasons why there is still no party like an S Club party
10 YEARS AGO this week S Club 7 announced that they were to split up.
In news that devastated pop fans everywhere, the band called it quits after four years of hit songs and hit TV shows.
Rachel Stevens enjoyed solo success for awhile and there are even rumours about a possible reunion for the group.
We do reckon that since their split there really hasn’t been a party like an S Club Party and here are some of the reasons why:
1. They were serious actors
Not only did S Club 7 have hit songs they also had several TV series featuring them living in sunny locations and playing exaggerated versions of themselves.
They managed to do four TV series, four specials and a movie released in cinemas.
And all of them were very high brow we can assure you:

2. They knew how to improvise
Lesser pop groups would fall apart at a photoshoot if they weren’t all able to have the same access to props and set-ups.
But that was never a problem for pop titans S Club 7 who in this picture let Bradley sit in front of the rest of them around some stairs.
Iconic.

3. They were fashion risk takers
Before Lady Gaga wore a meat dress, before Katy Perry wore .. whatever it is she wears, Jo from S Club 7 rocked this unique outfit while performing at Buckingham Palace.
Again, iconic.

Then there was the time Tina rocked this very “brave” outfit to their movie premiere.
Even Rihanna would find this one a bit much

4. They understood the power of a good smoothie
Well it looks like a smoothie anyway and if Hannah and Paul from S Club 7 were sipping them who are we to disagree?

5. They knew how to sell themselves
Oh you might hear how all those popstars today are brands and have perfumes and fragrances but have you ever seen Rita Ora stand inside a giant toy-box to flog a doll of herself?
No you have not.

6. They conducted themselves with respect
No room for bitter rivalries here.
Note how Hannah happily hugs Mark from Westlife below, other popstars would be too jealous to even dream of that.
But when you’re in S Club 7 you keep things classy.

7. They knew how to get lost in the music
As evidenced by Tina here, just let it flow Tina.
Just let it flow.

8. They had their own spin off group

S Club Juniors were formed as a child version of S Club and were upgraded to S Club 8 when the band split.
Frankie and Rochelle from the band ended up in The Saturdays which makes them pop veterans at this stage.
S Club Juniors never quite did as the same business as S Club 7 but we’re sure they all had a great time.
And you don’t see One Direction having a spin off group called One Direction Junior do you?
Exactly.
9. Three of them don’t want the party to stop.
Although Paul left the group in 2002, Hannah went on to act (including in Dublin shot ITV series Primeval), Jon went into musical theatre and Rachel stayed in pop, the others have tried to keep the S Club spark alive.
You know a party is good when some people just won’t let it die and the continued existence of S Club 3 on the college gig circuit is a sign of that.
There was also this rather cringe but unmissable Australian TV appearance they did last year:

10. They won things
S Club 7 won Record of the Year in 2001 for Don’t Stop Movin’.
Have you won Record of the Year?
We didn’t think so.
