Alan Hughes abseils live on TV with a camera strapped to his face

“I’m not giving you a wave, will you shag off?”

BREAKFAST TELLY IS definitely in a different world to everything else on the box.

Everyone involved is up very early and trying to be charming and engaging at a time when most of us are barely able to form sentences.

TV3′s Ireland AM are definitely upping their game by introducing a segment where they have Alan Hughes take up challenges from the public.

Billed as Challenge Alan, they’re taking viewer ideas and making Alan take on things he’d likely never do otherwise.

Sure look at him there, delighted for the chance to do something new:

We’re sure Alan had second thoughts when they kicked things off today with a challenge that saw him abseil from the top of Croke Park.
TV3.ie have kindly put the clip online for those of you who may have been in bed at the time (did you enjoy that lie-on? We bet you did).

Alan even got to wear a camera pointing directly at his face so we could watch his (understandably) nervous face:

The plan had been for Alan to discuss the weather and such as he went down but it seems that it was all he could do to just focus on abseiling. When a camera man asks for a wave Alan says:

I’m not giving you a wave, will you shag off?

Which in fairness, we understand.

Despite joking that “I don’t care if it takes two hours” Alan did make it down relatively quickly.

And then having gleefully declared Challenge Alan to begun told viewers:

We’re not doing anything like that ever again. It’s gonna be easy ones from now on

There are other Challenge Alan segments planned on Ireland AM every Monday with a mix of live and pre-taped segments.

We just hope he tells someone to shag off again to be honest.
