Heard appeared in court earlier today with bruises on her face and accused the actor of assaulting her, celebrity news website TMZ reports.
The actress filed for divorce in Los Angeles earlier this week and is seeking spousal support from Depp, who she says has repeatedly attacked her.
TMZ published a picture showing Heard with a bruise around her right eye, reporting that the actress says it was taken shortly after Depp smashed his iPhone into her face on Saturday night:
Heard claims after he allegedly hit her, he offered her money to stay quiet, but instead she filed for divorce first thing Monday morning.

The website writes that Heard believes she is facing an immediate threat of harm from Depp even though the actor is out of town promoting a new film.
The couple’s separation came less than a week after the death of Depp’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer, at the age of 81.
Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser denied AFP’s requests for comment, while Heard’s attorney Samantha Spector was not immediately available.
Earlier today, Depp released a statement saying he would not be responding to any “salacious false stories” about his personal life:
Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.
