This new 'apothecary bar' has opened in Dublin and it looks class
UPSTAIRS IN SAMS Bar on Dublin’s Dawson Street hides a little gem of a room.
And from tonight onwards, it’s been transformed into an ‘apothecary cocktail bar’ – serving up unique drinks in a fairly plush setting.
Seriously though, what’s an apothecary bar?
As Eileen Denham of Sams Bar tells DailyEdge.ie, the idea is to channel the spirit of old apothecaries – people around Dublin who prepared and sold old school sold medicines back in the day:
So, you just tell the doctor (bartender) what you’re feeling, and he prescribes just the right dose of flavours to get you back on track.
They’ll even be providing magnifying glasses to read certain parts of the menu – just like an old apothecary
The area is upstairs in Sams Bar – and will soon have its own entrance from the back of the pub
Its quirky interiors are supposed to channel the old school apothecary style
And it’s not a bad spot to sip on a drink or two
We’ll have to wait and see what sort of delish cocktails they are going to be serving up
It could be just the medicine you need at the end of a long week
