Axl Rose v Guitar Hero
AXL ROSE HAS FILED A $20M LAWSUIT against the makers of the Guitar Hero III video game for allegedly breaching an agreement he had made with them not to include any images of a former bandmate in the game.
Rose is objecting to images of his ex-guitarist Slash appearing on the game, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Guitar Hero III features the Guns N’ Roses song “Welcome to the Jungle”.
Axl Rose claims that during negotiations with the gaming company to add the track to the latest version, they agreed not to include any references to Slash or his subsequent band, Velvet Revolver.
The lawsuit claims the gaming company Activision Blizzard “began spinning a web of lies and deception to conceal its true intentions to not only feature Slash and VR prominently in GH III but also promote the game by emphasizing and reinforcing an association between Slash and Guns N’ Roses and the band’s song ‘Welcome to the Jungle’”.
Included in the complaint is a claim that the company used “Sweet Child O’ Mine” in an online promotion for the game Game Hero III, when it had only been licensed for Guitar Hero II, Popeater reports.
