A YOUNG WOMAN gave birth to a baby daughter in front of stunned shoppers outside a UK branch of Primark yesterday afternoon.
The woman was walking down a busy Birmingham street at around 2pm when she went into labour outside the store.
According to ITV News, Primark staff held up sheets to give the woman privacy from passers-by – but that didn’t deter crowds building up as she delivered the baby on the footpath.
A doctor in the area helped her give birth, to cheers from the onlookers.
One told the Birmingham Mail that people were recording the birth on their phones:
People were saying ‘get back and let her breathe’. Loads of people were recording on their phones. When the baby popped out, everybody cheered.
West Midlands Ambulance Service, who arrived on the scene to take mother and baby to hospital, tweeted that the baby is a girl and she’s doing just fine:
We hope she calls her Penney. Just because.
