DUBLIN ZOO HAS announced the birth of a brand new baby zebra. The female foal was born on September 2nd to mum Wieseje and weighed 50 kilos. Both are said to be bonding and doing well.
The birth marks the first time in 23 years that a common zebra has been born in Dublin Zoo.
Helen Clarke-Bennett of Dublin Zoo said that they were delighted to welcome the new arrival.
We are delighted with the birth of the zebra foal. The mother was pregnant when she arrived at Dublin Zoo so we were extremely excited about the prospect of the birth as it has been 23 years since a zebra foal was born at Dublin Zoo. Mother and foal are doing brilliantly. We look forward to watching the foal grow and develop with the rest of the zebra herd.
Look at her go!
And again.
Last time.
Adorable.
