WE SAW A Starbucks barista help out a deaf drive-thru customer yesterday, and today we have a new hero to add to the list.
This barber is going viral for going the extra mile to ensure a little boy’s fear of haircuts didn’t get in the way. The photos of James Williams from Port Talbot cutting a young Autistic boy’s hair are going viral on Facebook.
He wrote that the little boy Mason was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder a few months ago and wasn’t having ANY of Williams’ attempts to cut his hair. Little Mason would run off and refuse to stay still, so Williams had to come up with an innovative way to make it happen.
Finally, he let him lie on the floor and cut his hair from there. He wrote that after he gave him the finishing touch, he went in for a high five but got a hug instead.
The barber, who owns the Jim the Trim salon, was inundated with comments from hairdressers and parents who experienced similar things:
I have a 7 year old son with autism and he has long hair because he is terrified of the hairdressers. Wish you were our hairdresser! I have tried everything to cut his hair.
To show that much patients and understanding to the little guy. You deserve great respect a job well done and the parents really thank you too.
You are the kind of person that gives me hope for my little granddaughter with autism. Thank you!!!
“Well done one very amazing thing you have done for a family as most parents with ASD kids have to do it them selves cause of how much they lash out x”
