Bear told to get out of Alaskan pub, leaves without incident

If only all regulars were this well-behaved.

SO, A BEAR walks into a bar….

This sounds like the start of a poxy joke, but this actually happened in an Alaskan pub the other night.

A black bear walked into the bar at the Alaskan Hotel in downtown Juneau on Monday evening.

The establishment was fairly deserted, but bartender Ariel Svetlik-McCarthy spotted the animal immediately and roared:

No bear! Get out! No! You can’t be in here!

The bear complied, leaving the bar within seconds.

State biologist Ryan Scott told KTOO that it’s rare for black bears to go inside Juneau businesses, but they have wandered inside homes before.

KTOO has obtained CCTV footage of the incident, which you can view here.
