Belfast is actually getting a café devoted to crisp sandwiches
FIRST, LONDON GOT A cereal-only café. Now, Belfast is getting a café that only serves the most admired of delicacies, the crisp sandwich.
Yes, it’s true – from Monday onwards, a Belfast café is rebranding as Simply Crispy and selling all manner of crunchy, savoury delights.

The idea for the café started as a wind up from satirical news website The Ulster Fry, which posted a fake article earlier this week about a ‘crisp sandwich eatery’ opening up in the heart of Belfast.
The story went viral on Facebook and Twitter, and caught the eye of Andrew McMenamin, owner of That Wee Café in Belfast.
He contacted The Ulster Fry editors Billy McWilliams and Seamus O’Shea to ask if they might be interested in teaming up to open a real live crisp sandwich café in his shop.
Andrew told DailyEdge.ie:
So what kind of grub could you expect to get at Simply Crispy? Well, the lads say that customers would be able to “build their own crisp sandwich” with the option of a more “nutritious” side order.
Says Andrew:
Is this heaven? We think we’ve found heaven.
Simply Crispy will be open at That Wee Café on Bedford Street from Monday onwards. Enjoy, Belfast-dwellers, enjoy.
