Crisp sandwich café sells out by lunchtime on its first day
BELFAST GOT ITS first crisp sandwich café today (actually, the WORLD got its first crisp sandwich café today) – and it was all sold out in just a few hours.
The pop-up café, run by the folk behind That Wee Café, came about in an unusual fashion – it was inspired by an article on a satirical website, Ulster Fry.
Andrew McMenamin, owner of the café, spotted the article, thought it made for some real-life inspiration, and asked Ulster Fry editors Billy McWilliams and Seamus O’Shea if they wanted to team up.
The result was Simply Crispy.
McMenamin told DailyEdge.ie before the opening:
The café offers a build-your-own crisp sandwich, with additional side orders like soup and chips. (You can’t have too many potatoes in one meal, right?)
Simply Crispy officially opened this morning:
And by around 2pm it was completely sold out:
Now they just have to do it all again tomorrow.
