Belgian music festival goes veggie for Morrissey

The 10-day Lokerse Feesten festival will serve only meat-free dishes on the day the former Smiths singer performs.

A BELGIAN MUSIC festival has vowed to go meat-free on the day that vegetarian singer Morrissey performs.

The Lokerse Feesten festival, which usually sells horse meat sausages and snails, will serve only vegetarian food on 4 August, with organisers saying that “one meatless day” would serve as a “healthy break for all” over the 10-day festival, DigitalSpy.ie reports.

Clearly excited about the former Smiths frontman’s appearance, the festival’s website gushes “For years we dreamed of this. Many months we worked on it. For weeks we waited for an answer. Many nights were spent sleepless.”

The BBC reports that Morrissey left the stage during the Coachella music festival in California in 2009, complaining that he could “smell burning flesh”. Spectators at the event say that the singer then added: “I hope to god it’s human”.
