Let’s be honest, if any band in modern history deserves a biopic, it’s Queen.
Formed in London in 1970, the band, led by the inimitable Freddie Mercury, went on to sell 300 million records, won numerous awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001 – ten years after Freddie’s tragic death to bronchopneumoni, a complication of AIDS.
This November, the highly-anticipated biopic will be released in Irish cinemas, and this week the first trailer landed.
And it looks unreal.
With Rami Malek, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy and Joseph Mazzello starring as the British four-piece, our own Aidan Gillen takes up the role as the band’s manager from 1975 to 1978, John Reid.
The film, which is directed by David Fletcher, traces the band’s ascension to global acclaim before focussing on the performance which secured them their reputation as one of the greatest rock bands in the world – Live Aid.
Take a look at this…
