ON SUNDAY NIGHT, U2 released a statement that said Bono had hurt his arm in a “cycling spill”.
Well it seems that that was an understatement of giant proportions.
Rolling Stone has revealed full details of Bono’s accident and the extent of his injuries. The singer was cycling through Central Park on Sunday when he attempted to avoid a fellow cyclist and was subsequently involved in a “high energy bicycle accident”.
He was rushed to the hospital where he underwent a number of X-rays and CAT scans, as well as five hours of surgery.
Orthopaedic trauma surgeon Dean Lorich, MD, outlined Bono’s injuries in a statement.

Three metal plates and 18 screws. Ah yeah, standard enough for a cycling spill.
Lorich noted that Bono will require “intensive and progressive therapy”, but said that he anticipates a full recovery.
Get well soon, big guy.
