AS PART OF the promotional tour of his new autobiography, Brian O’Driscoll stopped by the BBC radio studios to chat with 5 Live Sport.
However, the former Irish international was not expecting to be greeted with a message from U2 singer Bono and seemed a bit embarrassed by the who thing.
The frontman said of BOD:
“When I think of Brian O’Driscoll I think of the number 13 and how lucky it has been for us Irish.
“I also think about the 13 times Brian has had is nose broken, not so lucky for him.
“But above all of that, I think of leadership, I think of BOD as a great leader and I think leadership is one of the rarest resources in this world.”
O’Driscoll’s reaction was that of someone who couldn’t quite believe who he was hearing from:
“Wow! That was something,” said the 35-year old.
“There’s a whole lot of me [who thinks wow, that's Bono], there’s not a little bit of me.
“How could you get used to that? That’s really cool and that’s one of the serious perks of being a Paddy and having one of the biggest bands in the world being very proud of their roots as well.”
