THIS MORNING, FORMER Ireland international Brian O’Driscoll appeared on Today FM’s The Ray D’Arcy Show to discuss his new autobiography.

The interview touched on many subjects including his rugby career and his New York arrest. It also crucially touched on his love for wife Amy Huberman.

It turns out Brian O’Driscoll is a big ol’ sap. Who knew?

As O’Driscoll explained, he first spotted his future wife on Tubridy Tonight and immediately sought out to meet her. After reaching out to a mutual friend, a date was set.

O’Driscoll explained that they concocted a set-up where he was just going to happen to bump into Amy Huberman in The Merrion. Unfortunately, that didn’t go to plan. And his friends are to blame.

It didn’t work out as I would have hoped because two of my buddies came in half cut, who had had a few extra pints than they were meant to have and then kind of hijacked the whole situation.

AH LADS.

All was not lost, however.

We arranged to meet again a few days later at a comedy gig and that’s when I asked Amy for her number.

The former Ireland international then stated that he knew it was true love after just two months of dating.

After 8 weeks I had a fair idea that I wanted to marry her. People say ‘When you know you know’ – genuinely, it was a case of that.”
