Deployed soldier's dog to be returned to him after ex-girlfriend sold pet online

What was she thinking?

A CAMPAIGN TO to have a US soldier’s dog returned to him after his girlfriend sold it without his knowledge has succeeded.

The three-year-old Shuba Inu named Baxter was left in the care of the girlfriend in March, but she sold it on Craigslist while her boyfriend was in Afghanistan.

The dog’s owner, named Robby Gabbert, started a campaign on Facebook while still deployed in Afghanistan to track the dog down, and the family that had bought him was located.

He also posted the following message on Craiglist:

I am currently deployed and my ex sold my dog. I just found out and I am trying to find the people (person) who bought him. I will pay anything to get him back.
His name is Baxter and he is an Shiba Inu. I do not have my phone with me. You can email me. The phone number is my mom’s she is helping me locate him. If you have any information PLEASE give us a call or an email.

However KOAA reported that the family – which has young children and thought they were buying a genuine pet – was reluctant to return the dog.

Now though, Gawker reports that the family has had a change of heart and will be returning Baxter to Robby.
