BACK IN 2000, teenagers across Ireland wanted to be cheerleaders and sang “I’m sexy, I’m cute, I’m popular to boot” at each other. Why? Because Bring It On, that’s why.
The comedy was a huge hit that year, spawning four (FOUR) sequels and a stage musical that ran on Broadway in 2012. But where are all our favourite cheerleaders now? Let’s see.
Kirsten Dunst (Torrance Shipman)
Kirsten is an altogether more serious actress these days. Her performance in the second series of Fargo earned rave reviews, and her upcoming film The Beguiled is getting early Oscar buzz. Yas Kiki.
Eliza Dushku (Missy Pantone)
FAITH! Elisha Dusku is something of a sci-fi legend, starring in Buffy, Tru Calling, and the short lived Joss Whedon series Dollhouse. These days, she does a lot of voice acting, playing Catwoman in Batman animated films.
Jesse Bradford (Cliff Pantone)
How dreamy was he? Jesse never really made it big after Bring It On, but he had roles in The West Wing and the Clint Eastwood drama Flags of Our Fathers. In 2015, he got himself back in the headlines by briefly dating controversial rapper Azealia Banks.
Gabrielle Union (Isis)
First of all, Gabrielle Union doesn’t age. Second of all, she’s had a pretty successful career – she’s the star of the sitcom Being Mary Jane, and has a film out with Jamie Foxx right now.
Clare Kramer (Courtney)
Another Buffy alum! Clare was Glory, the villain in series 5 – she went on to star in a lot of things that don’t have Wikipedia pages, along with a film called Big Ass Spider! Interesting.
Nicole Bilderback (Whitney)
Nicole has been in just about every crime show you can think of, from Cold Case to Castle to The Mentalist to Bones. Good living if you can get it.
Bianca Kajlich (Carver)
Y’know, the really enthusiastic one? Bianca has also done well in television, with a main role on that terrible sitcom Rules of Engagement for seven seasons.
Lindsay Sloane (Big Red)
Lindsay will always be Sabrina the Teenage Witch’s neurotic best friend Valerie, won’t she? But she’s also been in How I Met Your Mother and Matthew Perry’s sitcom, The Odd Couple.
Nathan West (Jan)
He is married to Chyler Leigh, or Dr Lexie Grey to Grey’s Anatomy fans. He also appeared in an episode of the show in 2009, but has since left acting to try his hand at music.
And Ian Roberts (Sparky Polastri)
Ian introduced the concept of spirit fingers to the world, but also a founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade comedy troupe alongside Amy Poehler. And for fans of Arrested Development – he played the Literal Doctor. THAT guy.
