LAST WEEK, A VIDEO purporting to show a naked man climbing out of a window at Buckingham Palace was posted on YouTube.
Aptly titled “Crazy Buckingham Palace naked man video!!!”, the video has received 1.39 million views since it was uploaded.
Only problem? It’s totally fake.
The veracity of the video was called into question when it emerged that the person who uploaded the clip, Anders Dahlberg, was likely a digital marketing manager.
Furthermore, a British video producer named Jon Rosling thoroughly debunked the whole thing and concluded that it wasn’t actually Buckingham Palace in the video.
So, who’s responsible for it?
None other than E!
Yesterday the network confirmed that the whole thing was an excerpt from its forthcoming show The Royals.
The clip in question was taken from a fictional tabloid featured in the show.
With the below “exclusive, never-before-seen extended footage of the scandal” from D-Throned, an online tabloid covering E!’s fictional modern day royal family from The Royals, it’s clear that this was a clever way for E! to give viewers a glimpse of the drama that will go down on the upcoming premiere season of the new show.
Very clever indeed, guys.
