TRYING TO GET to sleep when you can’t is officially the world’s worst torment.
You feel totally shattered all day.
But somehow as soon as you go to bed, you’re WIDE AWAKE
And immediately you close your eyes, your mind is all like
Somehow, you CANNOT get comfortable
Because your bed seems to have transformed into:
You become irrationally angry with anyone who IS asleep
And obsessed with small noises, which suddenly seem INCREDIBLY loud
You try all the getting-to-sleep tricks you know
But somehow, they all backfire.
Instead, everything you’ve ever done wrong goes through your mind
And you just feel like
So you just stare at the clock
And obsessively calculate the amount of sleep you COULD get if you got to sleep right now
Meanwhile every hour or so, you start up in a panic that your alarm hasn’t gone off
After hours of this, you FINALLY fall into a deep and restful slumber…
… five minutes before your alarm goes off.
That’s just how it is, I’m afraid. Basically this is your life:
