Channel 4 to launch new show where complete strangers get married
IS TRUE LOVE something that happens by chance? Or can we make it happen? That’s something Channel 4 wants to find out.
The channel are striking out with a “social experiment” to discover if science can produce a happy, stable marriage.
Married At First Sight, based on a hit Danish TV show, will reduce a pool of 200 applicants to six single people looking for long term love – and willing to tie the knot with a complete stranger.
Those six single people will meet each other for the first time at the altar before they are immediately married off.
Each couple will be matched up by a panel of “experts” in the fields of psychology, psychotherapy and social anthropology. But can science make a “perfect match”?
A camera crew will follow their first six weeks of married life, after which they will decide if they want to stay together or split.
On that note, dearest readers, we want to know…
Would you get married to a complete stranger?
