IN NOT-SO-ALOOF GESTURES, a scorned ex boyfriend sent a woman 15 live baby chicks to prove to her that he’d moved on.
The man posted a box full of the little fluffballs to his ex in Washington with a note saying ‘There are lots of chicks out there’.
Way to play it cool, man.
The girlfriend told the postman that she was going to throw them away, so he offered to take them to a local animal shelter, the Washington Humane Society, who passed them to the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary.
Half of the birds will be looked after at the Peaceful Fields sanctuary and half at the Poplar Spring sanctuary. All are well apart from one who has an injured leg.
It’s not illegal in the states to ship baby chicks in the post but it can often end in injury to the animals.
