LAST MONTH IN Waterford regional hospital an elderly lady was coming to the end of her battle with cancer.
Her family, from Clonmel in Tipperary, stayed close by her bedside in the cancer ward during her last week.
Her grandson Jamie told us:
During one of the nights in the hospital my parents ordered a Chinese takeaway from China Kitchen in Lisduggan. At first the restaurant didn’t understand why someone was looking for a delivery to the hospital but once my dad explained the situation they had no problem sending the delivery.
Jamie said that once the food arrived his parents found this note tucked inside the bag:
In such a horrible time for our family the goodness of people was presented to us in many ways but no better way than a simple message written on a peace of paper. Such a gesture deserves credit.
They kept a family smiling in a time of great sorrow.
Thanks to Jamie Stephen Conroy.
This article originally stated that the Conroy family is from Waterford. They’re from Clonmel but were attending Waterford Regional as their closest facility.
