TODAY IS NATIONAL Fish & Chips Day in Ireland – which is basically an official holiday at this stage.
It means that you can get half price fish and chips in over 200 chippers nationwide.
So, here, a ranking of your chipper standards in descending order of deliciousness:
9. Curry chips
Some people live for a curry chip from the chipper, but with so many high quality curry alternatives out there, the chipper’s version just isn’t a priority. Still, we admit it tastes good.

The unique taste of the Irish chipper spice burger is as alluring as it is mysterious.
7. Batter burger
That special chipper style batter, applied to a standard burger, puts a wonderfully Irish twist on a takeaway standard.

Variants include the Dinner Box, the Lunch Box and the standard Snack Box. All of them are straight up chips and southern fried chicken… in a box. So good.
5. Garlic cheese chips
Adding garlic sauce and cheese to the already legendary chipper chips is quite the culinary combination. They don’t skimp on the portions either, so if garlic and cheese is your thing then this should always be your order.
