This designer is being praised for dressing 'curvy' actresses at the Emmys last night
IF YOU WATCHED Project Runway back in the day, then you might well remember Christian Siriano from season 4.
At the time, he was known for saying “fierce” and “flawless”…
And became such a pop culture sensation that he was parodied by Amy Poehler on Saturday Night Live. (The dream.)
Since then, Siriano has forged a pretty impressive career for himself and established himself as a respected designer, having dressed countless celebrities and shown as New York Fashion Week.
In other words, he’s totally legit.
Earlier this summer, he made headlines when he offered to dress Leslie Jones for the Ghostbusters premiere after she tweeted that she was having trouble finding designers to dress her.

Within days, Siriano created a divine red gown for Jones to wear on the red carpet and he was praised for stepping up to the plate to design clothes for women with body types that don’t adhere to the fashion industry’s norm.
Siriano was reluctant to accept this praise at the time, tweeting, “It shouldn’t be exceptional to work with brilliant people just because they’re not sample size. Congrats aren’t in order, a change is.”

But it seems like Hollywood was paying attention because last night, Siriano dressed not one, not two, but nine women at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
And better yet? They were women of all ages, shapes and sizes.

Nine women!
In addition to those mentioned above, he also dressed Laurie Metcalf, Lauren Adams and Niecy Nash. Yahoo has speculated that this might be some sort of record.
The potentially record-setting feat comes just one week after Siriano included five plus size models in his New York Fashion Week runway show.
Since then, people have commended Siriano for bucking the fashion trend and adopting an inclusive approach when it comes to dressing women.

Hear that, designers? It makes good business sense to dress women of all different shapes and sizes, and not just those who fall within the fashion norm.
Who’d a thunk it?
