CROCS: WIDELY REGARDED as the ugliest shoes in the world. Shoes for slipping on when you’re bringing out the bins. Decidedly NOT high fashion, right? Wrong.
Designer Christopher Kane sent models down the runway at his London Fashion Week show wearing…these.
Yes, Crocs. Brown Crocs. Brown Crocs with glittery rocks stuck on them.
The reactions of the gals on the front row should tell you everything you need to know:
Have you ever seen so much barely disguised disdain?
According to Refinery29, the theme of Kane’s collection was ‘Make-Do and Mend’, inspired by pamphlets issued by the British government during World War II:
[This] referred to a “purposeful clash of clothing cultures in the collection, with the horticultural, the rural, and homemade, contrasted with the sleek, urban and sophisticated.
Nevertheless, people are not buying Crocs’ high fashion makeover. Not one bit.
Stop trying to make Crocs happen, guys. It’s not going to happen.
