Commuters take off their pants...for art

The 11th annual No Pants Subway Ride took place on Sunday. We have the pics.

WOULD YOU RIDE the Luas in your underwear?

It seems like an absurd question but 4,000 (yes, 4,000) people in New York turned out for the annual No Pants Subway Ride on Sunday.

The day was conceived as an arts/theatre/comedy project by “prank collective” Improv Everywhere.  The group’s tagline is “We cause scenes” and that they certainly do.

However, this accordion-playing busker is completely unperturbed about what’s going on around him.

The event – which originated in New York 11 years ago – has now gone global. Organisers noted that the event has now spread to 59 cities in 27 countries.

“Something weird is going on…”

The first No Pants on the Subway improv back in 2002 was pretty special (and funny).

The idea was simple: ”What would happen if in the middle of January a guy got on the Subway with no pants…but he wears a winter coat, gloves, scarf and hat?”
