CONCHITA WURST’S VICTORY in the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night was a proud moment for tolerance in Europe.

The drag persona’s victory sparked some angry reactions – including in Russia where one right-wing member of parliament said it was “the end of Europe”.

Vladimir Zhirinovsky added:

There is no limit to our outrage. It has turned wild. There are no more men or women in Europe, just it.

But Conchita’s win also inspired an internet-wide movement of solidarity. Here’s how it went:

Dozens of people donned beards in tribute:

Even celebrities got in on the act.

And others used their Photoshop skills to add beards where no beards had gone before.

(This last one is actually from a Buzzfeed post.)

Even one of Austria’s most prestigious art museums joined the celebrations:

Offline, The Sun newspaper added beards to their columnists’ byline photos:

Basically, this was the world:

YESSSSSSS!!!
