A woman who had a one night stand in Coppers in 2003 is looking for the father of her child

Were you in Coppers on August 2, 2003? You might be able to help.

A WOMAN WHO HAD a one night stand with a man she met in Coppers 12 years ago wants to find him again – to let him know he has a son.

The woman sent an anonymous email to Ryan Tubridy’s RTÉ 2fm show this morning, asking listeners to help her find the mystery man.

She said she was in Dublin on Friday, August 2 2003, to attend the Laois vs Armagh match the next day. She and her friends ended up in Coppers on Friday night, as you do:

Myself and a few friends went out on the Friday night, and I met someone in Coppers. We got separated from our friends and went to what I think was Bewleys Hotel in Ballsbridge. I left the next morning for the match, and I didn’t think anything of it.

“Yes, we had a one-night-stand, and as a result, I have a wonderful son,” she continued.

The woman said that although they “weren’t too drunk”, time has made her memories of the night hazy.

She said she thinks the man’s name was Sean, he was from Armagh, and may also have had an earring. The woman was quick to stress that she did not want anything from ‘Sean’, just to let him know about his son:

I want nothing from him. He has his own life, but I just wanted to let him know. We all do stupid things and I have no regrets. My son is 11 now and he is brilliant. He has a stepdad now, and he is great too.
That night woke me up to life and made me grow up. This has been on my mind for years, wondering what I could do to find this person without a second name, and I just thought I’d give your show a try.

Tubridy appealed for help from his audience, but admitted it sounded like “a bit of a wild goose chase”.
