TODAY THE EAGERLY awaited Cadbury Creme Egg Café threw open its doors to serve up some decadent Creme Egg treats.

The pop-up café is taking over Lock 6 Café on Canal Road from February 16th – 20th, and is serving up Creme Egg toasties, Creme Egg doughnuts and Creme Egg brownies.

So what’s it like?

This is what it looks like from the outside.

Yes, a giant Creme Egg is affixed to the roof of Lock 6 and the exterior has been totally #branded.

As we made our way there, we spied lots of people stopping to take a photo, so you’ll probably be seeing a few on your Facebook timeline over the next couple of days.

The branding doesn’t stop there.

The outdoor area is decorated with Creme Egg cushions, Creme Egg mugs, Creme Egg placemats — it’s basically Mecca for fans of the gooey confection.

Meanwhile, these are the posters on the wall.

The menu is short, but sweet.

Really sweet.

And, for those lucky enough to have snagged tickets already, it’s all free. (Customers are encouraged to leave tips, the proceeds from which are donated to Aware.)

Did we mention there’s entertainment?

In the form of a man named “Egg” who sings songs from the musical Cabaret, the lyrics of which have been modified to suit the setting. As in, “Welcome to the Cadbur-et, ol’ chum”.

You get the picture.

So, what about the food?

Where do we even begin?

First of all, we had some of the traybake. We won’t mince our words — it was divine.

Next up, we sampled some of the doughnut, which was so sweet and decadent that we’re honestly considering booking a dentist appointment just to ensure that we don’t have any cavities.

Highly recommended.

And finally, we were treated to the most controversial menu item of all — the Creme Eggg toastie. It had the potential to be either very right or all kinds of wrong.

We are pleased to report that it was very much the former. It was very chocolatey and very gooey — like a next level Nutella toastie.

Two sticky thumbs up.

The café officially opens tomorrow.

While most of the tickets have already been given away, there are still a few spots for walk-ins every day. For more details, click here.
