WERE YOU ONE of the lucky few to witness Damien Rice’s comeback gig?

The enigmatic singer-songwriter played his first gig in seemingly AGES in Whelan’s last night, as part of the venue’s 25th Anniversary gigs.

After the singer made the surprise announcement last week, all 300 tickets sold out in about one minute. One. Minute. This is the hold O has on Irish people.

Last night, Damien played for two and a half hours (AKA a long time) – here’s a clip of him performing Delicate to a completely silent audience.

Fans on Twitter were nothing short of gushing:

For those of you that didn’t get there, don’t worry. Damien is bringing us a new album in the autumn, and hopefully, hopefully more gigs. Stay strong.
