THE WORLD GOT hooked when Alec Baldwin started his now legendary Saturday Night Live impressions of Donald Trump during the Presidential campaign last year.
And now, luckily for anyone who enjoys such satire, Comedy Central launched a full show dedicated to lampooning the President and it debuted on Thursday.
It stars Anthony Atamanuik and it’s called The President Show
I was literally 😂 at this @PresidentShow clip last night. @TonyAtamanuik just might be a comedic genius: https://t.co/SjuNN0Kkmj pic.twitter.com/VqZKnJLm4A

He’s been impersonating the now President for a year on various shows – and he was so good that they gave him his own weekly run at it.
Filling a show with half an hour every week based on just one character might seem like a stretch, but they have plenty of material to work with
And its first episode has gone down very well.
The AV Club describe what Atamanuik is going for with such an ambitious project:
Anthony Atamanuik draws out this type of self-aware moment for a Trump impression that goes far beyond parroting and into sad, strange, and somewhat complex satire. He’s done numerous interviews this week about how he’s not just trying to capture Donald Trump’s mannerisms, but the emptiness of his soul, and it’s these brief periods of cognizance—the times where the synapses in the character’s brain crackle with a little more fire—that allow him to hit such a lofty creative benchmark.
And it’s been well received on Twitter too – even though sketch shows are often very hit and miss
It follows The Daily Show on Thursday nights in the States, so it was only natural that Atamanuik crashed the set during the week
Alec Baldwin has some serious competition on his hands.
