EOIN COUGHLAN IS an Australian Olympian who entered the Judo competition at this year’s games in Rio.
And his 83-year-old Dublin granny Pam was there to support him.
RTÉ News journalist Philip Bromwell interviewed her before Eoin’s first fight – and she was in typical Irish granny support mode:
“Go for it Eoin! Give them socks!”
She was “burstin’ with excitement” to be in Rio for the games, and even though Eoin got knocked out of the judo yesterday, she was still in buoyant spirits on the news:
“We’re now looking forward to the trip to Tokyo in four years’ time – and I’m sure we’ll be twice as proud when he wins the gold medal over there”
YES.
Philip Bromwell even shared some extra footage of her on Twitter, and she’s just loving the Olympics experience so far:
“Everybody is just so pleasant and helpful… and happy. There’s a lovely buzz about it all”
