This school closes every year to let a duck guide her babies through the halls
WE ALL LOVE a good excuse to take some time off school.

For the last 13 years, a duck has passed through the Village School in Hartland, Michigan to lay her eggs. She takes her little ducklings with her, so the school began to prepare for her arrival.
They named her Vanessa, and teacher Ruth Darrah first came to her aid when she realised the ducklings would need to get to water after they hatch, but couldn’t yet fly.

She decided to block off a hall and send the students home so the babies could go back the way they came. They say she had trouble the few first years navigating her way around, but now she’s a seasoned pro.
