HE MAY HAVE been the biggest-selling artist of the year for 2017, but not everyone is a fan of Ed Sheeran.

In fact, some people would go as far as to call him a suck-up on national television.

It all kicked off when word landed that the Suffolk singer may be getting a mural commissioned in his honour in the city of Dunedin in New Zealand.

And TVNZ Breakfast host, Hayley Holt, wasn’t having it.

The snowboarder turned television presenter challenged the proposal, insisting that a giant mural of the singer was the last thing she wanted to see.

I would like to say, this will stop me going to Dunedin, not because they are spending ratepayers money, but because I do not want to see a giant, giant mural of Ed Sheeran’s mug.

“I’m sorry, he does my head in. And then to immortalise him?” she continued, as co-host, Jack Tame, tried to physically distance himself from Hayley on camera.

Yes, you can see him actually squirm.

“Ed Sheeran seems like a lovely, lovely person,” she qualified before adding: “But he’s so boring.”

And then she kicked off again.

He just tries to suck up to us by wearing All Blacks shirts, and now we’re sucking up to him by putting up a giant picture of his mug.

In an attempt at diplomacy, Jack suggested Hayley’s opinion wouldn’t be met with much support, but it didn’t look like she could give a toss before mentioning his appearance on one particular HBO show.

Fair enough.

Taking to Twitter earlier today, Hayley attempted to clarify her opinion of the Shape of You singer, and opened with a fairly barbed remark.
