Ed Sheeran plays surprise gig in Dublin pub tonight
WE HAVE IT good authority that Ed Sheeran is going back to his roots with a surprise session in Doyles pub on College Green in Dublin city centre tonight.
The singer is playing the Rubysessions event in the small upstairs space in the bar, with the place described as “jammers” by one attendee. Fans are still queuing outside the venue.
Rubysessions sent out a tweet earlier hinting that they’d be hosting a special guest but the reveal was kept fairly hush hush until rumours started to fly on Twitter in the past hour or two.
Sheeran has played the Rubysessions event in the past, including this gig in 2011:
All proceeds from tonight’s gig go to the Dublin Simon Community.
Sheeran is currently on a promtional tour in support of his latest album X. Tomorrow he’ll play an invite-only set at the 2FM studios in Donnybrook.
He’s also lined up to play a ticketed set at the HMV store on Henry Street to just 40 lucky fans.
Busy boy.
