ED SHEERAN PLAYED to a packed out Whelan’s last night to 800 lucky fans. Despite rocky start, with over 100 fans turned away as allocation was done first-come-first-served.
The venue issued a statement saying:
We can understand peoples disappointment at receiving an eTicket for the Ed Sheeran show, then to find there were no spaces left.We want you to know that all the ticketing for this event is handled byApplauseStore.com, specialists in television event ticketing, for such shows inc. the likes of the X Factor and Top Gear etc.
They went on to say that “it’s common practice for all TV productions worldwide to oversubscribe as a percentage of people who apply for tickets, simply don’t turn up”, and those turned away were offered guaranteed tickets to another show.
For those who received an official eTicket, it did state in the terms and conditions that the event would be oversubscribed and that wristband allocation would be served on a first come, first served basis and all subject to availability.
For those who couldn’t go, or were turned away, radio station Spin 103.8 held a viewing party in 4 Dame Lane
But the lucky few who got wristbands, looked like they were in for a treat
Robbie Keane, Claudia Keane, Jedward, Gavin James and Elmo were all in attendance
But it wasn’t sitting too well with some fans…
Most were watching at home
Ed enjoyed himself, anyway
Like he really really loves Whelan’s. We hear you, Ed
And he left this lovely note
If you missed any of the action, the Storytellers gig will be repeated on Wednesday January 28 at 11pm on MTV Music. Channel 350 on Sky or 708 UPC.
