Electric Picnic confirmed: Festival WILL go ahead this year

The tenth Picnic will take place the last weekend of August, organisers have announced.

THE ELECTRIC PICNIC music festival will go ahead this year, organisers have confirmed.

The event will take place in its usual venue on the Stradbally Estate, Co Laois, from Friday August 30 to Sunday September 1. No line-up has been revealed, with details due to be announced on on Thursday April 25.

An announcement made by organisers on the festival website today ends months of speculation over whether the event would take place in 2013. It comes just hours after rival festival Oxegen also confirmed summer dates this morning.

Tickets for the event – billed as the ‘tenth anniversary edition’ of Electric Picnic – will go on sale next Saturday, April 27.

Discounts are being offered to punters who have been to previous Electric Picnics. A statement on the website reads:

In recognition of the fantastic support and the wonderful times EP and its supporters have had together, we’d like to reward our longstanding fans.

Those who can prove they have been to three or more Picnics can up to claim €80 off the price of a weekend ticket. At full price, tickets are €189.50 until July 28, and €229.50 thereafter.

Day tickets – which the website suggests will only be available for the Sunday – will be €85.
