ELF IS ONE of the most beloved Christmas films in recent memories.
It’s silly, it’s joyous, it’s infinitely quotable and it features tons of Will Ferrell. What’s not to love?
Those skimming through their RTÉ Christmas Guide to find out when it’s being broadcast on television are in for a rude awakening, however.
It’s nowhere to be seen on RTÉ or TV3′s Christmas line-ups. Nor is bit being broadcast on free-to-air television across the pond.
A few years ago, we found ourselves in a similar situation.
In 2014, a host of Christmas films, including Elf, weren’t available on free-to-air television after Sky acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights.
But when you have a nose through the Sky Cinema Christmas Collection this year, Elf is nowhere to be found.
On Twitter, Sky Cinema informed customers that it failed to secure the broadcasting rights to Elf this year.
(DailyEdge.ie has contacted Sky for comment.)
The news has all but ruined Christmas for many people
WE NEED OUR BUDDY THE ELF FIX!
So how might one go about watching Elf this year?
Well, it’s not available to stream on Netflix…
BOO!
But it is available on iTunes.
And as you can see it’s currently sitting pretty at number four on the charts.
It might not be the same as watching it on telly with millions of other people, but we’ll have to make do with it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
