An independent fashion brand has publicly accused Kylie Jenner of ripping off its designs

Drama.

INDEPENDENT NEW YORK fashion brand PluggedNYC have been associated with the reintroduction of camouflage-style fashion over the past year.

So much so that they’ve got spreads done on how they’re “bringing it back” this season:

This week, the fashion world has been focused on the launch of The Kylie Shop - Kylie Jenner’s new line of crop tops, caps and bikinis. And, to almost underline its resurgence, they’re all camouflage patterned

All good? Well, not quite.

The CEO and creative director of PluggedNYC Tizita Balemlay took to Instagram yesterday accusing Kylie of ripping off their designs

Posting a collage image of her camo designs beside a piece from Kylie’s collection, she wrote:

Them: Did you invent Camo?
Me: Nope, but I sure as hell brought it back to life and pushed the two piece Camo movement. I can’t remember one brand that sold matching Camo two pieces that weren’t generic tees with cargo for ladies before my brand, unless it was custom. But hey… money is power smh I started my brand with pennies funny how someone can just take a whole movement bc of how much money and power they have.

The drama was ratcheted up on Snapchat when she shared emails that appear to show that Kylie was a customer of hers and had bought her camouflage pieces in the past (as captured here)

The brand has previously shared an image of Jenner supposedly in a piece of theirs too

In another Instagram post, Tizita wrote:

Copy & Paste down to the shoes I used on my models.

The story has been picked up by hundreds of international outlets – from The Daily Mail to People. But even with the headlines created, both brands have yet to officially speak out on the allegations – and the Kylie Shop has been contacted for a statement.

The social media reaction has been mixed.

With the evidence presented, some think Kylie took a little too much ~inspiration~ from the independent brand with the two-pieces

While others are asking… how can you copy camouflague?

The drama of it all

This one is (probably) going to run and run.
