OMG, THE FBI is totes in the know with what TBH and WTF means.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation actually has a full dossier of Twitter/Facebook/MySpace (?!) slang available to its employees so they can be sure that nobody is evading them using, like, text speak.
As the Washington Post points out, the manual is “hilariously out of touch” (well, you saw that MySpace reference, didn’t you?). It comes in at 83 pages, and contains around 2,800 acronyms and terms.
The list was released in response to a Freedom of Information request from the site MuckRock.com.
It contains all the usual offenders like SMH (shake my head) and LOL (laugh out loud), but what about the really preposterous ones?
TTIWWP – This thread/tweet is worthless without pictures
We can only find a handful of uses of this on Twitter, including this riveting tale:
FMTKFYTFO – For me to know, for you to find out
It actually takes less time for one to type out the sentence.
ALOTBSOL – Always look on the bright side of life
One for all you Monty Python fans.
HCDAJFU – He could do a job for us
We don’t know about you, but we find use for this one daily.
YKWRGMG – You know what really grinds my gears
Tax dollars being spent on preposterous manuals?
BTDTGTTSAWIO – Been there, done that, got the t-shirt and wore it out
We’re considering getting this on a t-shirt, and wearing it out.
