One of the First Dates Ireland couples had already dated each other, because IRELAND
THIS WEEK, FIRST Dates Ireland returned for its second episode and fortunately it did not disappoint.
There was true love, unmitigated disaster, cheeky Nandos, and a, “Er, have we met before?” moment.
Let’s take a look back on the episode, shall we?
Conor was the first hopeful looking for love.
A basketball player from Co. Laois, he revealed that he had a thing for ginger girls.

Fortunately, the First Dates overlords delivered and matched him with Laura.

Despite being actual children — well, aged 20 and 21 — they were both looking for a special someone to settle down with.
But things went swimmingly and they decided to go on a second date…

But not before Laura revealed that __ smelled like her dead Grandad.
Smooth. Real smooth.
Next up was 39-year-old Mark who revealed that he loved going on dates and even got a facial beforehand.
Fancy schmancy.

His companion for the evening? Gemma from Co. Dublin who writes crosswords for a living.
Best job ever, tbh.

Unfortunately, it quickly dawned on Gemma that they had actually gone on a date many moons ago…
DISASTER.
Whoops!

Predictably, there were cries of “Only in Ireland!”
But soon they were making small talk like, “You have a little boy, don’t you?” like old pals
Both parties saw the humour in the situation.

Things seemed to be going well, but when it came to the end of their date, there was a minor kerfuffle over who would get the bill
Mark wanted to pay the bill, because, you know, chivalry.
Gemma, however, wanted to split the bill. After all, they’re both working adults, so why shouldn’t she pay?
Gemma eventually relented and let Mark pay for the bill.
But in the end, they decided not to go on a second — well, third — date
Although they did vow to stay in touch.
D’aw.

Our next Romeo for the night was 21-year-old Kias, a self-described “ladies man” and “character”
“I’d probably intimidate some girls” – Our Kias is not only handsome, but he’s modest.

He was paired up with Liverpudlian Ciara who, as you may remember, was stood up on her date last week
amy amy
It soon emerged that Kias worked in Nandos… which led to a barrage of Cheeky Nandos jokes
At one point, Kias revealed that he even picked women up in Nandos
Nandos as a pick-up joint? Who knew?

In the middle of the date, Kias decided to casually ask how soon Ciara would consider having sex with someone
Her face says it all.
Are you for real, mate? RTÉ Player RTÉ Player
Despite that blunder, Ciara was still game for a second date. Kias, however, decided that they weren’t compatible.
She was too “organised” and career-minded, you see. Kias, on the other hand, is a free spirit and the “banter” just wasn’t there.
*sad trombone*

Next up was Dawn from Tralee.
amy amy
She was paired with Alannah-Rose, an architecture student from Waterford.
amy amy
It was immediately clear that this date mightn’t go so well…
First, Dawn asked Alannah-Rose what her starsign was (Alannah-Rose was not down with astrology) and then she inadvertently said that she wasn’t as pretty as her Mam.
As if things couldn’t get worse, she then asked the waiter for a kids’ menu, much to Alannah-Rose’s mortification.
And it only got worse from there
For one thing, Dawn ripped the piss out of Alannah-Rose for being a “hopeless romantic”
And she was also adamant about not wanting a relationship.
WHAT?
amy amy
Unsurprisingly, Alannah-Rose pretty much called it the worst date ever
One is not amused.
amy amy
And while they didn’t go on a second date, they did party in The George until the wee hours
Aw <3
amy amy
And finally, there was Melissa from Belfast. Melissa liked to inhale food.
amy amy
She was matched with “aspiring entrepreneur” Corey from Co. Galway
amy amy
Corey was the chivalrous type and said that he was the kind of guy who’d help a girl over a puddle. Sound man, Corey.
Whoops!

Everyone fell in love with him, though…
He even compared her to a good Supermacs burger…
The most Galway compliment of all-time.
And they decided to go on a second date <3
amy amy
Unfortunately, though…
Melissa took to Twitter to reveal that they hadn’t actually gone on a second date yet because the long distance had proved too troublesome.
WE WERE ROOTING FOR YOU.
