Garlic cheese & chips for Fox News, as it falls for... Supermac's

Fox News is recommending Americans try the ‘tasty and tempting food’ at Supermac’s.

SUPERMAC’S HAS A new fan: Fox News.

Yep, the Irish fast food outlet is named in a Daily Meal article on Fox News about the 10 fast food joints you haven’t heard of - but that they recommend people should try on their next trip.

What does the ‘fair and balanced’ news source have to say about the home of chunky chips piled high with cheese sauces?

The company claims to have pioneered curry chips and the snack box craze in Ireland

It ain’t wrong there.

The article also notes that Supermac’s – which, unlike many US outlets, offers coleslaw, cheese and even garlic sauce AND cheese on its chips – has 100 locations in Ireland, and was founded in 1978.

Other outlets mentioned include Wimpy (which claims to be the first chain to serve a vegetarian burger), Chefette (famous for its roti), MOS Burger (which serves teriyaki burgers), and Nordsee (where mackerel fillet is on the menu).

But we bet you can can’t get an artery-hugging breakfast roll like this in US fast food restaurants, now can you?

Managing Director of Supermac’s Pat McDonagh said:

It’s a great honour to be considered one of the best fast food restaurants in the world. We’re delighted to welcome many visitors from overseas into the restaurant every year. I’m thrilled to hear that our reputation has travelled far and wide and that Fox News is endorsing Supermac’s as a must-visit dining experience in Ireland.

With Americans spending nearly $100 billion on fast food every year, we might yet see a Supermac’s making the jump across the Atlantic. What they will make of the Irish take on ‘taco fries’ is anyone’s guess…
