The maître d' is the best part of First Dates - Here's why
THE BRILLIANT CHANNEL 4 dating show, First Dates, is now a staple in our week. Thursday nights = First Date night.
If you haven’t watched it yet, you’re missing out. The basic premise is that we get fly-on-the-wall access into a London restaurant which is playing host to a range of first dates. Specific couples are chosen for us to watch in full, as well as giving us the chance to find out what they thought of each other after.
We’ve loved certain people who appeared for dates, like this German man, Hugh Grant lookalike Louis, and Irish gal Laura Barry.
But Fred the maitre d’ is the one who has truly captured our hearts
The Frenchman greets every singleton and shows them to their seats, and basically he is the best part of every episode.
Why?
He opens every episode with this heart-melting quote
In fact, all of his quotes make us want to both cry and laugh at the same time so we look like this
Need proof?
Twitter Twitter
Drench us in your wisdom.
WE WILL.
He uses his hands a lot when he says them
Pinterest Pinterest
Expressive gestures <3
He’s not bad looking
Whoops!
We couldn't find this Tweet
And you just know he’d take you on the best date ever

There would be candles, and roses, and posh wine and shit
That skunk beard is otherworldly
R.I.P. ME.
He’s French and like REALLY French
He even tweets in French.
That’s French , right?
He’s also really deep
He’s basically Lumiére from Beauty and the Beast
He likes emojis
We like emojis? Match.
But prepare for some heartbreak, Fred is actually married with two kids

Well we can love him from afar <3
