LOADS OF PEOPLE look back on their time in the Gaeltacht as a bit of serious craic with a bit of Irish added in – but not everyone sees it this way.
Back in 2002, mam Ger Roche received this missive from her 13-year-old son who was away at the Gaeltacht:
Ger sent it into The Ryan Tubridy Show this week as part of their An Post letters competition.
As you can see, he wasn’t too happy with the situation. Some of the choice quotes include:
Hi Mother Dearest. This place is crap.
The Ceilí are a load of rubbish, a complete waste of time.
Danced with a girl who looked like Satan.
Signing it off “your angry son”, the young man was not enjoying his Gaeltacht experience one bit.
As Tubs’ show noted on Facebook, Ger has always kept it around because it’s so gas:
Love this postcard that Ger Roche received from her youngest son who was spending a summer in the Gaeltacht in Connemara when he was about 13 (he is now 29). Ger has always kept it because it was so funny!
Ah, memories.
