LAST NIGHT SAW master cake-maker Frances Quinn slice her way through rivals Ruby Tandoh and Kimberley Wilsh to win the 2013 Great British Bake Off.

Feelings have been running high throughout the competition – so much so that Tandoh has written an op-ed in The Guardian on why the show attracted so much vitriol.

Twitter, naturally, could hardly contain itself for the finale. Here’s how it played out.

First, there was excitement.

And we mean real excitement.

Some people doubted the challenges…

… although others were very much on board.

The rivalry was fierce.

And emotions ran high.

Some viewers were so overexcited, they got a little confused.

The result was controversial.

But only for some.

The losers were gracious:

And Frances was so pleased, she resorted to puns.

Meanwhile in Ireland... the competition continues.
