Game of Thrones creator teases season 4's 'Purple Wedding'

There will be 77 courses at Joffrey’s wedding… seems a bit much to us.

WE WERE ALL shocked by the red wedding, and now the purple one is on it’s way.

Series four of Game of Thrones will contain the ‘purple wedding’, and creator George R.R. Martin has been busy dropping hints of what’s to come. Speaking to TV Guide, he said:

It’s going to be the wedding of the year, and as memorable in its own way as our wedding last season. It’s what the fans call the Purple Wedding, based on the colour of the wine, which plays a big part. It looks spectacular, the bride’s dress incorporates roses, there are 77 courses at the dinner feast, and there’s some wonderful half time entertainment.

The wedding will see King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) tying the knot with Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). The cast are currently shooting in Croatia, with the series set to return in Spring 2014. Some behind-the-scenes photos were recently posted to Imgur, depicting a very grand wedding indeed.

The ruthless nature of the red wedding shocked the half-a-million fans that tuned into its UK broadcast, with Martin telling Entertainment Weekly that it was the “hardest scene I’ve ever had to write”.

It was like murdering two of your children. I try to make the readers feel they’ve lived the events of the book. Just as you grieve if a friend is killed, you should grieve if a fictional character is killed. You should care. If somebody dies and you just go get more popcorn, it’s a superficial experience isn’t it?

What if Game of Thrones was made up of the cast of Family Guy?>
