Beloved Cork pizza institution Gino’s has closed and people are devastated

It opened in 1990.

GINO’S DELICIOUS PIZZA and ice cream in Cork is sadly no more.

We’ve described it in the past as “honest to goodness, inexpensive Italian pizza” – and that just about sums it up.

But as The Evening Echo reports this morning, it’s officially closed its doors for good

Gino’s will still be running the original Waterford restaurant and delivery service, but the Cork outlet is no more. And The Echo is reporting that the location on Winthrop Street will be used as the building for the new Boojum.

It was such a well loved Cork pizza institution – as it’s been around for nearly 30 years

People are, needless to say, a bit devastated by the news

As it wasn’t just pizza that they were famous for – there was the ice cream too

So it’s a pretty sad day for Gino’s lovers in the city
