Here's the emotional preview for Glee's Cory Monteith farewell episode

The tribute will be aired in the states next week.

WITH THE LOSS of Cory Monteith in July, Glee executives have been faced with the task of dealing with it in the show’s storyline.

The promo for the farewell, entitled ‘The Quarterback’, aired for the first time last night after the hit show’s latest episode.

The episode will be broadcast in the states next Thursday and will see the cast mourning the death of Monteith, and subsequently, his character Finn Hudson.

The short promo shows Monteith’s girlfriend Lea Michele, who plays Rachel Berry, singing an emotional rendition of ‘Make You Feel My Love’, while Finn’s classmates pay tribute to the character by his locker.

As reported by Hollywood Reporter, Ryan Murphy said that the episode was “incredibly hard to work on and very difficult to shoot”, and that everything that was shot was “what really happened”.

Those performances that you’ll see, almost everything in that episode is from the first take of every performance because the actors and the crew had a really hard time shooting it.

Murphy went on to say that it wasn’t just the cast that were affected by the storyline:

I’ve never seen a crew that you can’t continue shooting because they’ve left the room sobbing. It was very hard. I struggled even working on it because what you’re seeing is what they felt not just about Finn but Cory. It’s amazing performances across the board and everybody went into it with a lot of love.

Former cast members also got in contact with Murphy to appear in the episode, despite not being under contract to do so.

It was very rough, and it was very rough with Lea. I’m very proud of it. I think the performances are quite stunning. It was tricky, people still are not over it and it’s still very difficult.

The cause of the 31-year-old’s death was recently revealed to be a lethal cocktail of ‘intravenous heroin use in combination with ingestion of alcohol.’
