IT’S THE NEW hair trend sweeping social media and baffling half the beauty world at the same time.
It’s glitter roots.
And it’s exactly what it says it is
The Today Show in the US covered the trend yesterday, and it’s been coming according to hair stylist they spoke to:
The glitter hair roots trend is something I’ve seen emerging for a couple years now and I think it’s super cute and edgy when done right
It’s a fairly unique look alright
But how is this style achieved? Today’s stylist tells us:
Step one is to find the glitter of choice and mix it with clear styling gel (it has to be clear to look right). Then carefully spread the glitter or clear gel mixture no more than one inch from your part. This can be done by using an old foundation brush or even simply using your fingers.

PopSugar does see a rather obvious downside though – and that’s the glitter itself:
While this would definitely be a fun trend to try for the holidays, we’re not convinced it’s something worth rocking on the regular. Those familiar with glitter cleanup know what a struggle it can be. Adding it into your strands will result in you finding little flecks of bling on your pillowcase for days, because multiple shampoo sessions probably won’t get it all out.
